2024 | Werk voor Venlo Verlicht
Deze foto legt een intrigerende figuur vast met een gezicht dat deels verborgen is. Naast hem staat een zwarte koffer, waarin de kennis zit die hij door de tijd heeft verzameld; de figuur is immers een tijdreiziger. De inhoud van zijn baggage is een metafoor voor wijsheid en licht. Een concept dat ook in het religieuze gedachtegoed terugkomt, als bijvoorbeeld een aureool bij een christelijke heilige. De foto is genomen in een steegje in Venlo. Vervolgens zijn verschillende versies van het werk gedrukt op papier, in delen gesneden en handmatig weer samengevoegd, waardoor ze één coherent geheel vormen.
Venlo Verlicht is een bijzondere openluchttentoonstelling die van 7 september 2024 tot en met 23 februari 2025 te zien is in het centrum van Venlo, Arcen en Steyl. Op speciale armaturen tonen kunstenaars van allerlei pluimage hun werk op meer dan 50 lantaarnpalen, geïnspireerd op het thema ‘licht’.

This photo captures an intriguing figure with a face partially hidden. Next to him stands a black suitcase, containing the knowledge he has gathered over time; after all, the figure is a time traveler. The contents of his baggage are a metaphor for wisdom and light, a concept that also appears in religious thought, such as the halo of a Christian saint. The photo was taken in an alley in Venlo. Several versions of the work were printed on paper, cut into pieces, and manually reassembled, creating one coherent whole.
Venlo Verlicht is a special outdoor exhibition that will be on display from September 7, 2024, to February 23, 2025, in the center of Venlo, Arcen, and Steyl. On special fixtures, artists from all walks of life showcase their work on more than 50 lampposts, inspired by the theme of 'light.'
